Cape Winelands Airport to Welcome International Flights by 2027

Gallivant Africa

Located 13 km northeast of Durbanville, Cape Winelands Airport has big intentions to start operating domestic and international flights by 2027. The goal of the £300 million development project is to turn the former Fisantekraal Airfield into a significant hub for commerce.

The project will showcase the area’s wine legacy with a fynbos botanical garden, wine tasting rooms, and vineyards. A hotel, conference center, open-air amphitheater, aircraft museum, and cargo facilities are all planned.
The current owners, RSA.Aero, plan to build a passenger terminal with a 5 million annual capacity and expand the main runway to 3,500 meters. The airport expects to handle two million international and three million domestic travelers annually by 2050, possibly tripling the amount of air activity in the area.
