Air Sénégal (HC, Dakar Blaise Diagne Int’l) has begun scheduled international services having operated repatriation flights alone for the past several months.
Using one of its two A319-100s, it has started a twice weekly connection linking Dakar with Abidjan on July 17 following the resumption of its daily service between Dakar’s Blaise Diagne International Airport and Paris CDG where regular flights resumed on July 15.
The Senegalese national carrier uses A319-100 6V-AMB (msn 3078) on the Abidjan route and its sole A330-900, 6V-ANB (msn 1923), on the Paris route. Its second A319-100 is currently at Malta Int’l for maintenance. Meanwhile, the A330-900neo 9H-SZN (msn 1910), wet-leased from Hi Fly Malta (HFM, Malta Int’l) on a long-term agreement, has been parked at London Stansted since May 17 having last operated a revenue flight on April 7, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows.
Using its turboprop fleet of two ATR72-600s, Air Sénégal resumed its only domestic route, between Dakar and Ziguinchor, on June 20.
Air Senegal was created in 2016 to replace bankrupt carrier Senegal Airlines under liquidation. The new national airline is part of a large, 20-year horizon investment plan referred to as Plan Sénégal Émergent (PSE) initiated by President Macky Sall. The airline has a fleet size of 8 aircrafts and 19 destinations across Africa and Europe.
