The 2024 edition will see an attendance of over 6000 travel industry professionals and related industries with over 700 companies exhibiting and more than 45 hosted buyers from the world’s leading travel and tourism markets and destination marketing agencies. As the country celebrates 30 years of democracy, Gauteng Tourism seeks to use the strides gained over the past 30 years to power the Gauteng of the future we all strive for.

As a top priority, the province showcase and focus at this year’s WTM Africa will center around joint efforts aimed at addressing crime and grime issues, investments, and partnership opportunities in the revitalisation and building of tourism infrastructure in townships and less visited areas and the amplification of the thought-leadership and stewardship role of destination Gauteng is building and presenting a Pan-Africa and regional approach to tourism development, management, and marketing.

Gauteng boasts a myriad of attractions and sites that commemorate and celebrate the remarkable journey to the freedom we enjoy today. Through the packaging and sales of the golden story of liberation, democracy and freedom which has its tentacles all over the province of Gauteng, the GTA seeks to entice the hosted global buyers with this approach.

Similarly, Gauteng will also showcase the province’s township tourism products, government-owned heritage sites, signature products, events, and experiences during the time in which the tourism sector is in full recovery mode and allows for the listing of Gauteng products in the global booking window.

The destination Gauteng showcase at WTM Africa will be led by the GTA and its marketing partners the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site and Dinokeng, Constitution Hill, and Gautrain. “This partnership and co-creation driven approach to marketing is key to increasing Gauteng’s market performance, increasing bed nights and better product packaging and pairing”, explained GTA CEO Sthembiso Dlamini.

Apart from the many travel trade sales engagements and leads generation sessions planned for the 3 days of the show, Gauteng will also use the platform to explore trade and investment opportunities for tourism and participate in business exchange activities and provision of market access opportunities for some of the province’s SMMEs, concluded Dlamini.

The #VisitGauteng team is at stand P40 with its partners ready to do business.
